How to Get Rid of Dandruff

You’ve seen the commercials for Head & Shoulders. Happy and smiling people with excellent hair that have been cured of dandruff. But what exactly is dandruff? What causes it? More importantly, is there a way to control economically without special shampoos and conditioners? There are home remedies containing reducing chemical properties of dandruff, although they are not prescribed by your doctor.

Dandruff facts
Dandruff is basically an excess of dry, dead skin on the scalp. If it is dry, it has small white flakes fall on your shoulders and your clothes. If your scalp is oily, dandruff can come in the form of fatty and yellow beads.Yuck! Right? You need to know so you can recognize dandruff, if you have it. There are some common causes of this unwanted condition. You could have a mild case of dry skin common in winter. You could have an excessively oily scalp, causing yellow dandruff and red itchy skin. You might not wash your hair often enough, three times a week is a good rule to obey.

Make a bitter
Apple cider vinegar mixed with water -2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 1 1/2 cups of water-should help a mild case of dandruff. Use a cotton swab to apply the mixture on the head and then wrap the scalp with a towel. For a less intense (and mild dandruff) treating the mixture allowed to act for 10-15 minutes and then rinse your hair until you find no trace of vinegar smell. Try this remedy two or three times a week to get rid of your dandruff. Apple cider vinegar contains elements such as calcium, magnesium and potassium. These are all good items to your hair. Calcium helps strengthen and shine.

Make juices
There are a lot of juices that will help you with your dandruff problem. Overall, fruit juices containing antioxidants worth a try. They help exfoliate (remove dandruff) and hydrate (prevent the formation of dandruff). Try mixing 2 tablespoons apple juice with the same amount of water. Leave on the scalp for 10-15 minutes and then wash it. This is a good choice to add to your daily regimen shower. Place some lemon juice and massage the scalp for a few minutes and then wash your hair – it can help eliminate dandruff too.

Oil: not just for salads
Both olive and almond oils will help relieve itching and also will add more moisture necessary in a dry, flaky scalp. Mix equal parts of olive oil and almond oil. Heat it in the microwave and apply it on your scalp. Wrap your hair and let it sit for five minutes. You are about to tingle, so that’s how you know it’s working and it’s time to wash!

A note about severe dandruff
Home remedies using fruits, oils and vinegar should be used two or three times a week for a couple of weeks to see results. Each of these ingredients helps to delamination and moisture, the two enemies of dandruff. These natural ingredients will not damage your skin and your scalp, and are lacking strong synthetic chemicals that cause irritation. If you do not see results after two weeks, see your doctor for stronger shampoos and conditioners.
